Oil and gas sectors employ engineers from different disciplines to work in the field of oil and gas industry (production, processing, manufacturing and petrochemicals). Some of these engineers do not exhibit the required basic knowledge about natural gas production and processing. Therefore, a postgraduate program to qualify engineers from different disciplines to be familiar with NG engineering and technology is of great importance.
The Faculty of Engineering of Cairo University established the Natural Gas Engineering Diploma (NGED) in March 2004 in an attempt to supply the Egyptian oil and gas market with working engineers familiar with the main stages of oil and gas industry. The purpose of NGED is to harmonize basic knowledge among graduates from various disciplines and thus prepare graduates to initiate career in any field related to natural gas industry.
The aim of this program is to teach and train engineers from other engineering disciplines to work in the field of natural and petroleum gas. The graduate has to be able to manage gas production, separation, measurements and instrumentations, sweetening, transportation and storage, liquefaction, processing, and petrochemicals. The graduated engineers of this program would be able to satisfy the needs of the gas industry in Egypt as well as worldwide.
This diploma is designed for graduates with B. Sc. degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline. The program builds upon the foundation of capabilities developed in undergraduate engineering study, and it focuses on the fundamental knowledge and skills associated with the field of NG Engineering.
